Magu blasts national assembly, says only 2 people can remove him

Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of

the Economic and Financial Crimes

Commission (EFCC) has said he only

needs the support of President

Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo

to remain in his position.

Magu said this on Friday, July 7, 2017 in

Kano when he hosted some civil society


Magu had been rejected at least twice

by the Senate. The upper legislative

chamber has now threatened a face-off

with the executive if Magu is not

removed immediately.
But the presidency has maintained that

it will not send Magu away despite

tension being created by the senators.

Magu reportedly said: “We should thus

use our greater number to push these

minor criminals out of service before

they cause serious problems in the


“My messages to these corrupt persons,

hanging around our necks and using all

criminal strategies to create disharmony

among Nigerians, is that their times are

up; this one is a fight to finish.

“What more do we need? I think the

backing of the President and his vice is

enough for us to win the fight and we

shall win it, no doubt about that, the end

of this fight is just around the corner.”

The acting chairman lamented that the

country was held bound by just about

1000 corrupt Nigerians.
